Community Engagement

September is Attendance Awareness Month, which provides an opportunity to educate our community about the importance of school attendance and the impact it can have on your child's educational experience. Our schools strive to create an engaging, inviting learning environment where all are welcome. As our students arrive in the morning, each day that they attend out of the 180 school days in a year provides us as a staff with the opportunity to get them excited about learning, engage in relationship building with peers, create classroom community, and experience hands-on lessons with their teachers and classmates. I am excited to welcome you back to school. I can’t wait to get back to the important work of educating the community's children! School leaders and staff are busy preparing to welcome our learners back on campus. School offices open on August 10th and the first day of school on Wednesday, August 24th. Before we all start on our summer vacations, I wanted to take a minute to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for helping create a tremendous year for our children. This year we were faced with numerous challenges; constantly shifting health and safety protocols, staffing shortages, changing health conditions, and political unrest. But despite these challenges, we came together as a community to provide the whole child education we pride ourselves on in San Carlos, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Last week our schools celebrated Earth Day all week long including our Mariposa 5th graders who enjoyed Outdoor Education at Jones Gulch. CMS students had a stand at the San Carlos Farmers Market to promote reduction of food waste and shopping locally, while the TL Environmental Club held their Earth week bake sale to raise funds to create signs to educate students about recycling.
